Bio
Jeff E. Schiedegger is founder of 5D design, llc and brings more than 23 years of experience in product design and development, project management and operational management. His experience includes working with some of the top companies in their respective industries such as Ford Motor Company, Whirlpool Corporation, Medtronics and Herman Miller.  His knowledge of design is rooted in his youth and time spent observing his father designing plastic injection molds for his business.

In the mid 1980s, Jeff began designing residential remodeling projects for his own construction business using the predecessor to AutoCAD, known as AutoSketch. In 1990, Jeff joined forces with his father and company, where he played a major role in transitioning the company from 2D to 3D solid modeling with Pro/ENGINEER.  Over the next several years, while managing automotive and building products projects from concept to production, Jeff designed several products and complex tools, resulting in numerous patents.

In 1995, Jeff joined a product design and research firm where he served as the Director of Engineering. While there, he helped to establish a cross-functional team within the organization, working with industrial designers and researchers, and developed an understanding of the benefits that a collaborative team brings to product development. During his tenure, Jeff gained experience in a wide range of markets including consumer goods, medical devices, office furniture, and industrial machinery and equipment.

In 2000, Jeff rejoined his father and the world of building products where he spent much time managing turnarounds, relocations, acquisitions and new products. After six years with the company, Jeff ventured to form 5D design, llc—returning to his passion of product design and development.  At 5D design, Jeff draws upon his experience to help clients realize the advantages of Smart Product Design and Development by planning for future products in the early stages of the design cycle.
